Our HistoryCurrently, 61% of Noble staff members and 53% of our instructional staff identify as a person of color.
Noble Schools began as one public-charter high school opened by two Chicago Public School teachers in 1999. With the support of the community, students, and staff, Noble opened two additional campuses, Rauner College Prep and Pritzker College Prep in 2006. Since then, Noble has grown to 17 high schools and one middle school all located within the city of Chicago. Each Noble school is unique and ranges from having focused STEAM programming to implementing campus-wide discussion based instructional models to being an International Baccalaureate school. Most recently, Noble added it's 18th school on the southwest side of Chicago in 2015. As of 2020, Noble has over 12,000 students enrolled, a teaching staff of over 1,000 educators, and 17,500 alumni.
Our ApproachSince our inception 20 years ago, Noble has been built on an idea of “and”: love and high expectations, rigorous academics and high support. We are not limited by ideas of either/or. We can do both, we have done both. We know that some of our students come to school each day carrying the challenges of Chicago and that they are powerful beyond measure. We know that Noble has set the bar nationally in so many ways and we know we can and must do more.
We know the biggest predictor of our students’ academic success is the quality of the adults in the building. That’s why we work tirelessly to recruit, hire, and support the best educators in the country. And we know they work tirelessly to ensure that every student has the resources they need to be successful. We give our teachers the freedom to innovate in the classroom and access to transparent data so they can analyze their performance.
Our commitment to students’ success extends through college. Alumni Coordinators at each campus provide academic and financial aid advising and workshops, mentoring, networking and counseling for alumni as they adjust to life after Noble. In addition, The Noble Alumni Career Office supports Noble alumni in their professional career development, exposure, and advancement. The resources range from reviewing resumes and cover letters, helping with salary negotiation and promotion strategy, to connecting alumni to a network of employers and professionals in the greater Chicago area.

Noble’s Licensure Programs (NLP) provide flexible, cost-effective options for our teachers to obtain an Illinois teaching license or subject endorsement while teaching at Noble.
These benefits are available to current or new Noble educators who teach full time at a Noble school. Enrolling in a licensure or endorsement granting program is an investment in your long-term career as a teacher. We have selected partner programs that understand the Noble staff experience; these partners have designed a flexible, blended, high-quality curriculum applicable to teachers who are already getting results in the classroom, but strive to strengthen their practice.
